    Virtual Meeting Room in Vue — MVP in 4 Weeks

    Context

    I was on vacation when the 2020 lockdown was declared. With nothing to do, I decided to cut my vacation short and offer help. The company owner got excited and challenged me: build a virtual meeting room tool to integrate into their intranet app.

    Problem

    The company needed an internal video conferencing solution but had no budget for external tools nor time to hire specialists. The deadline was impossible: 4 weeks for a functional MVP.

    Action

    I accepted the challenge and learned Vue.js while building — I had never used the framework before. I built from scratch a real-time video conferencing application with Vue, WebRTC and Socket.io, integrating it directly into the existing intranet.

    Result

    Delivered the working prototype in the fourth week. The tool was presented to clients and validated as a competitive differentiator for the company's intranet platform.

    Lessons

    Pressure creates focus. Learning a new technology in production, with real stakeholders and a real deadline, accelerates growth exponentially.

    Anti-Fraud Retry Button — +$10M in 2 Weeks

    Context

    Monitoring user sessions via FullStory on the transactions dashboard, we noticed a recurring pattern: whenever a transaction was rejected by anti-fraud, the user seemed lost, entering and leaving the screen repeatedly.

    Problem

    Legitimate transactions were being blocked by conservative anti-fraud settings. Merchants did not understand the rejection reason and had no alternative to recover the sale, resulting in direct revenue loss.

    Action

    In an emergency meeting with the BFF team, the Risk PO and myself, we proposed a retry button with a disclaimer where the merchant assumed the risks in exchange for a second evaluation with more liberal rules. We developed and deployed within days.

    Result

    In the first week, the button generated over $2 million in recovered transactions. By the second week, it surpassed $10 million. It was the most valuable deliverable of my career.

    Lessons

    Observing user behavior with attention generates business opportunities that no planned backlog would capture. Proximity to the product and fast decision-making outperform bureaucratic processes.
